The Autumn Tag

Tag creator - www.makeup-pixi3.com

I spotted this tag on www.makeup-pixi3.com and thought it was an excellent idea for a post! I am going to tag some fellow bloggers at the end of this post but feel free to do the tag!

1.    Favourite thing about autumn?
Oh that’s hard! I don’t think I only have one main favourite to be honest. I love everything about autumn. The colours (leaves, fashion), smells (burning leaves), tastes (pumpkin spiced lattes)…everything!!

2.    Favourite drink?
It has to be either the pumpkin spiced lattes that Starbucks do at this time of year or Nescafe’s instant gingerbread latte! Wouldn’t say no to a hot chocolate though ;)

3.    Favourite scent/candle?
Well I’ve already mentioned that I love the smell of burning leaves. So candle wise, I love Yankee candle ‘blissful autumn’ and ‘fireside treats’.

4.    Best lipstick?
I usually stick to the same colours all year round which is bad! So I am gonna try hard to work a dark lip this fall/winter. I particularly like the vampy look.

5.    Go to moisturiser?
Definitely Clinique’s dramatically different moisture lotion for combination/oily skin J

6.    Go to colours for the eyes?
I always tend to do a smokey eye, usually like to use brighter colours in the spring/summertime but I love a dark smokey eye for the fall.

7.    Favourite music or band/singer to listen to?
I love to listen to Paramore and Florence & the Machine at this time of year. I think Hayley’s and Florence’s voice are really suited to the colder months if that makes sense!

8.    Favourite outfit to wear?
Layers! Lots and lots of layers!! Boots/uggs, leg warmers, tights, shorts, vest, long cardigan and a scarf!

9.    Autumn treat?
Lots and lots of cuddles to keep warm!

10. Favourite place to be?
Definitely at home, with candles lit, watching a film, drinking hot chocolate whilst cuddling into my boyfriend and kitten.

Hope you have enjoyed reading my answers!

Autumn Quotes

Good morning beauties!

As I have mentioned a gazillion times before, autumn is my favourite season. I love everything about it. The smell of burning leaves, the crisp air and the way my breath leaves a shimmering white mist before me. The cozy-ness of everyone it seems, that we are all preparing for the winter to come by piling on thick infinity scarves and cute beanies. And not to mention gingerbread lattes!! Yum!

For this post, I thought it would be nice to gather all my favourite quotes inspired by the season…

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.”
Lauren DeStefano, Wither

“Autumn seemed to arrive suddenly that year. The morning of the first September was crisp and golden as an apple...”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

“Autumn is the hardest season. The leaves are all falling, and they're falling like
they're falling in love with the ground.”
Andrea Gibson

“Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile.”
William Cullen Bryant

“She looked like autumn, when leaves turned and fruit ripened.”
Sarah Addison Allen, Garden Spells

“I loved autumn, the one season of the year that God seemed to have put there just for the beauty of it.”
Lee Maynard

An Autumn Day...

I always like to change my makeup look, especially when the seasons change. I prefer light colours in the summer and darker colours in the winter for a more dramatic look. Although in the photo below I don't actually have a dark lip, I would like to start sporting one for the fall ;)

My go to products are as follows:
Urban Decay's Naked Palette - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this palette. I honestly use it everyday. I like to use the shade 'buck' to fill in my brows, and 'virgin' as a highlighter.

This foundation is brilliant for my skin. I tend to have a slightly paler complexion in the winter time so I like to stick to light shades like 'Ivory'.

I love Clinique lipsticks. I actually got the one I use frequently as a freebie because I bought 2 products. I love the colour 'Rosette', and it looks that extra bit gorgeous with a slick of Model Co lipgloss in 'Berry Pink' on top!

I have only recently stopped using this product as my eyeliner. I have used it in the photo at the beginning of this post, but I now find that I prefer to use the dark colours from my urban decay palette as eyeliner for my top eyelids because I find it better to apply.

This mascara doesn't need justification. Its brilliant. Get it.

I got this Chanel duo for my birthday and adore the colours. The duo is in 'misty soft' and is a lovely combination of a lilac shade and a plum colour...beautiful! I use the lighter lilac shade on my lid and the plum shade in the crease of my eyelid and blend together.

What is your go to makeup look for the fall? Let me know in the comments below : )

Christmas in a Cup

LIf like me, you literally cannot wait for the festive drinks to start appearing at Starbucks, then head down to your local Asda/Walmart (depending on where you live) and grab a box of Nescafé's instant gingerbread lattes! At £2 per box it's an absolute steal and tastes like Christmas in a cup!

If you guys know of any other types of flavoured coffees that you can purchase at your local supermarket then let me know! : )

Book review: Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen

Good morning fellow bloggers, blog readers!

I hope you are having a wonderful morning! It is definitely turning into autumn out there isn’t it? Absolutely frrreeezzzinnng! Anyways, so today I thought it would be nice to do the first of many book reviews. I’ll give you a quick recap of my reading life…I loved to read when I was younger, then towards the end of high school/throughout my first few years at uni I fell out of the habit and almost entirely lost my love for reading.

So a few years ago, maybe towards the end of my 3rd year at uni, my mum and I were looking through a charity shop (I don’t usually tend to shop in charity shops although I really should start because you do find some absolute bargains!) and I stumbled upon this beautiful book. It had a turquoise glittering cover with a gorgeous white ball gown on the front. And so, I read the summary on the back of the book.
The story sounded similar to the novel ‘Practical Magic’ by Alice Hoffman. However, once I started reading Garden Spells, I found that it was quite different. Yes, it did have some similarities; two sisters, an evil ex-boyfriend and a sprinkle of magic but this story completely captured my heart. Maybe it’s because I haven’t actually read Alice Hoffman’s book and only seen the movie…but honestly, Garden Spells made me fall in love with reading all over again! I began to feel like a part of me had been filled. Not that in the sense of a loved one leaving an empty space in your heart, it was more like a space at the corner of my mind had been abandoned since I turned the last page of the very last book I read.  And Garden Spells had reawakened this old dusty, poorly maintained part of my mind…
Since reading ‘Garden Spells’, I have read all of Sarah Addison Allen’s novels and thoroughly enjoyed every single one. These days, you will rarely find me on my lunch hour without a book! If you feel that you have lost your passion for reading, pick up a copy of this book. Please, it is honestly a beautifully written tale and you will keep it with you for the rest of your life. I know I will… : )

The Liebster Award...

Rachel from http://missrachelreidy.blogspot.co.uk/ has nominated LAX for the Liebster Award. The Liebster Award is a great way for bloggers starting out to get to know each other a bit better which made me want to participate. Thanks so much Rachel for nominating me!
So the aim of the game is to answer 6 questions that have been chosen for you by the blogger who nominated you, then to think up 6 new questions to ask up to 10 bloggers that you follow with 200 members or less.
 My 6 questions are:
1)     If you could go back to any era in time, which would you visit?
The 1920’s. I recently saw The Great Gatsby and fell in love with the time. The fashion, architecture, music and attitudes are what simply draw me to the era. Another thing that I love about this decade were the attitudes of men. They were still gentlemen and that’s to find a gentleman these days is a rare thing!
2)     Can money buy happiness?
Not.At.All. I am one of the happiest people in the world, but that is due to the people I surround myself with. End of.
3)     Favourite place you've visited
Inverness with Guy, it was a truly wonderful trip and I enjoyed every minute.
4)     One word to describe you
BLONDE
5)     Favourite animal
No, no, no! This is not fair!! I have so many! I love my kitten to death! I also have a thing for clown fish, penguins, OWLSSSSS and horses.
6)     One product you can't live without.
My Bath & Body works Lavender and Vanilla Sleep Spray J
My 6 questions are as follows…
1)     Favourite book?
2)     If you could have any animal as a pet, what would it be and why?
3)     All time favourite film?
4)     Favourite person and why?
5)     Your best memory?
6)     If you were to take two things (item/person) to a desert island what/who would it be and why?

So the bloggers I am nominating for The Liebster Award are…

Bath Body Works Pumpkin Cupcake Deep Cleansing Hand Soap Review

Oh my days, where do I start?!

Okay so, I absolutely adore Bath & Body works products to the extent that I pay double for their candles on eBay, but I’m gonna let you in on a little secret…there is a place in the UK that sells B&BW products!! It’s called the bathandbodyshop.co.uk. It sells tonnes of different B&BW products including candles, hand soaps and even pillow spray! I check the site every day for the latest products.
So yeah, back to my addiction. As I am obsessed with nice festive smells, I always try and stay as up-to-date as possible with the hand soaps I have in my bathroom. Be it a fresh summery smell like aloha orchid or a Christmassy scent like iced gingerbread, I feel that it’s nice for guests (and myself) to use instead of your basic everyday hand soap. However, as I purchase these hand soaps online, I like to make sure that I actually enjoy the scent. So I usually purchase a hand sanitiser first, see if I like it, then I will buy the hand soap. I bought the pumpkin cupcake hand sanitiser about 2 weeks ago and absolutely fell in love! It smells like pumpkins, gingerbread and sugary vanilla and it simply is the most festive smell ever, its perfect for this time of year! I also feel that it is a unique scent that sums up autumn turning into winter, if you know what I mean.
I highly recommend this product, not just because of the smell, but also because it’s the best cleansing soap I have ever used. It leaves your hands feeling so clean, but also moisturised! The ideal combination!
Do you guys like B&BW hand soaps? If so, what one is your favourite??
